Specify Water Ingress Equipment from the Exact IPX Level

Drip, oscillating spray, water jet, immersion and high-pressure hot-water tests use different apparatus. Define the exact rating, specimen mounting, operating state, flow or pressure and drainage conditions before selecting equipment.

Required IPX Level and Test Apparatus

Identify the exact IPX rating and procedure. IPX1–2 dripping, IPX3–4 spray, IPX5–6 jets, IPX7–8 immersion and IPX9K hot-water jets cannot be validated with one generic rain chamber.

Match Equipment to the IPX Level →

Specimen Dimensions and Mounting

Provide product dimensions, mass, normal service orientation, required rotation and mounting points. Oscillating tubes, turntables, handheld nozzles and immersion vessels each impose different size and load limits.

Plan Specimen Mounting →

Flow, Pressure, Distance and Calibration

Specify nozzle size, water flow, pressure, distance, angle, temperature and exposure time from the method. Define how flow, pressure and test geometry will be calibrated and recorded.

Review Water-Jet Control →

Powered Testing and Electrical Safety

State whether the specimen is energized or monitored during exposure. Internal power, signal routing, isolation, leakage protection and emergency shutdown must match the laboratory risk assessment.

Configure Powered Ingress Testing →

Water Supply, Drainage and Site Conditions

Confirm water quality, tank capacity, heating requirement, recirculation, filtration, floor drainage and splash containment. IPX9K and large-flow systems may require substantial utilities and heat management.

Prepare Installation Utilities →

Inspection and Acceptance Criteria

Define post-test inspection, water ingress limits, dielectric or functional checks, calibration records and report format. Equipment acceptance should verify the required flow, pressure, geometry and timing.

Request an IP Water Test Review →

Water-ingress equipment selection

Match the IP Water Test to the Right Equipment

A drip box, oscillating spray chamber, water-jet system, immersion vessel and high-pressure hot-water tester create different exposures. Choose the exact water-ingress method first, then size the equipment for the enclosure, fixture and operating state. The seven DERUI product pages below are starting points for distinct test requirements—not seven versions of one universal rain chamber.

Required exposure Start with this equipment page Confirm before quotation
IPX1 / IPX2 falling-water drops Mobile Phone IPX1/IPX2 Drip Chamber
Small enclosures and phone fixtures
Active drip area, normal and tilted specimen positions, delivery verification and post-test inspection. This is not an oscillating-spray or immersion test.
IPX3 / IPX4 spraying or splashing IPX3/IPX4 Rain Spray Chamber
Oscillating-spray configuration
Tube or nozzle geometry, flow, oscillation, specimen turntable, clearance and exposure time under the adopted method.
IPX5 water jet for automotive lighting Automotive Lighting IPX5 Chamber
Application-specific specimen mounting
Lamp assembly size, service orientation, electrical monitoring, jet distance, flow, access to all required faces and leak-evaluation criteria.
IPX5 / IPX6 water jets IPX5/IPX6 Water-Jet Chamber
General cabinet-size jet exposure
The separate nozzle and flow conditions for each rating, test distance, fixture, powered state, water supply and drainage. The page name does not establish climate control.
IPX7 / IPX8 immersion DR-H504 IPX7/IPX8 Immersion Chamber
Submerged enclosure exposure
Specified depth or pressure, duration, vessel capacity, specimen hold-down, safe handling and inspection. IPX8 conditions must be agreed for the product.
High-pressure hot-water jets IPX9K Hot-Water Test Chamber
Method-specific high-pressure exposure
Name the governing IEC or automotive method and designation; verify water temperature, pressure/flow, nozzle geometry, distance, angles and specimen rotation. Hot-water jets are not steam exposure.
Large assemblies needing a walk-in rain room DR-H506 Walk-In Rain Test Chamber
Multi-face rain exposure and project-specific jets
Complete assembly and fixture envelope, door/loading route, target faces, water circuit and site drainage. Listed IPX5/IPX6 nozzles need a complete method-specific setup.
An equipment cycle is not an IP rating. IEC 60529 and automotive ISO 20653 have defined scopes and test designations; use the edition and procedure named in your project. The result depends on the complete specimen configuration, delivered exposure, inspection and acceptance decision. Do not infer a higher water rating from a lower one or from a nozzle included with a chamber.

What to Send for a Water-Ingress Test Configuration

A complete requirement makes it possible to select the apparatus, verify the exposure and agree the product acceptance check.
