Corrosion chamber selection starts with the governing method, solution chemistry and exposure sequence. Continuous neutral salt spray, acidified methods and cyclic corrosion require different controls, materials and laboratory support.
Identify the exact ASTM, ISO, IEC, automotive or customer method and revision. Record the required chamber temperature, solution, fog collection, exposure duration and any wet, dry or humidity stages before choosing equipment.
Review the Applicable Method →Neutral salt spray, acetic acid salt spray and copper-accelerated acetic acid salt spray use different solution chemistry and operating conditions. Confirm chemical compatibility, preparation, monitoring and exhaust requirements.
Review CASS Test Configurations →A continuous fog chamber does not automatically perform cyclic corrosion. For multi-stage testing, define every salt spray, wet, dry, humidity and temperature step plus transition and purge requirements.
Configure a Cyclic Corrosion Program →Provide specimen dimensions, quantity, material, coating and required angle. Usable exposure space, rack loading, drainage and distance from walls influence fog distribution and repeatability.
Size the Exposure Workspace →Confirm purified-water quality, compressed air, exhaust neutralization, drainage and installation environment. Cleaning access and corrosion-resistant construction influence long-term stability and operating cost.
Prepare the Installation Requirements →Define collection rate checks, temperature records, solution pH and concentration monitoring, sensor calibration and report format. Acceptance should verify method compliance across the usable test area.
