What the “160” Configuration Provides

The “160” designation refers to the chamber’s 1600 mm internal width—not a 160 L capacity. With internal dimensions of 1600 × 1000 × 500 mm, the usable workspace is approximately 800 L.

This larger horizontal test area is intended for long panels, multiple coated coupons, automotive components, fasteners, electrical enclosures and other specimens that do not fit comfortably inside a small benchtop cabinet.

Selection point: usable capacity depends on specimen geometry, rack angle, spacing and the need to avoid direct interference with fog distribution or condensate runoff. Send a loading drawing before ordering.

ISO 9227:2022 covers neutral salt spray (NSS), acetic acid salt spray (AASS) and copper-accelerated acetic acid salt spray (CASS), and includes evaluation of cabinet corrosivity. The applicable method and chemical-resistant configuration must be identified before the order is finalized.

Do not confuse salt fog with cyclic corrosion testing: GMW14872 and other cyclic automotive methods may require controlled humidity, drying, solution application and multi-stage climate transitions. A standard salt fog chamber should not be claimed as GMW14872 compliant unless those additional functions are specifically engineered and validated.
Current standard editions: ASTM currently lists B117-26 as active. Always use the edition required by the customer’s product specification or laboratory quality system.

How to Specify the Chamber Correctly

Identify the method

Specify ASTM B117, ISO 9227 NSS/AASS/CASS or the exact product standard and revision.

Define the load

Provide specimen dimensions, quantity, weight, rack angle and a proposed loading drawing.

Set the exposure

Confirm duration, inspection intervals, interruption rules and required fog collection checks.

Confirm utilities

Verify power, compressed air, purified water, drainage and exhaust conditions at the installation site.

Define evaluation

State appearance, corrosion-area rating, mass-loss, functional or coating-adhesion acceptance criteria.

Review safety

Confirm solution handling, ventilation and wastewater treatment requirements with the facility’s EHS team.

Operation and Maintenance Priorities

  • Prepare the solution and adjust pH using the procedure specified by the governing standard.
  • Verify chamber and saturated-air temperatures before starting the formal exposure.
  • Check fog collection at the specified locations and interval; do not infer compliance from pressure alone.
  • Prevent specimens from contacting one another and avoid condensate runoff from one specimen onto another.
  • Rinse the spray circuit and nozzle with suitable purified water after testing to reduce salt crystallization.
  • Inspect air filters, seals, heaters, sensors, solution lines and safety alarms on a documented schedule.
  • Use calibration and cabinet-corrosivity checks required by the laboratory quality system.

Từ 1.0 đến 2.0 ml/80cm²/h (giá trị trung bình nên lấy sau khi phun liên tục trong 16 giờ).

3、Yêu cầu về môi trường lắp đặt là gì?
Nhiệt độ môi trường nên từ 5 đến 30℃, độ ẩm không quá 85% RH. Vị trí lắp đặt cần tránh xa nguồn nhiệt và rung lắc, mặt bằng phẳng và thoáng khí tốt.

4、Làm thế nào để lắp đặt hệ thống xả khí đúng cách?
Ống xả khí nên kéo dài thẳng đứng ra phía ngoài, chiều dài dưới 30 mét và không quá 10 khúc uốn. Nên lắp đặt ống "T" ở cuối để ngăn ngừa dòng chảy ngược.

8、Sự dao động nhiệt độ ±2℃ có bình thường trong quá trình thí nghiệm không?
Có, thiết bị cho phép sai số nhiệt độ ±1℃ và dao động ±0.5℃; quá nhiệt ban đầu 1-2℃ trong quá trình làm nóng là bình thường.
