An approximately 800 L salt fog chamber with a 1600 × 1000 × 500 mm working space for corrosion testing of larger components and higher specimen quantities. Its corrosion-resistant PVC construction, continuous or periodic spray control and adjustable specimen rack support repeatable salt spray exposure for metals, coatings, fasteners, electronics and automotive parts.

What the “160” Configuration Provides

The “160” designation refers to the chamber’s 1600 mm internal width—not a 160 L capacity. With internal dimensions of 1600 × 1000 × 500 mm, the usable workspace is approximately 800 L.

This larger horizontal test area is intended for long panels, multiple coated coupons, automotive components, fasteners, electrical enclosures and other specimens that do not fit comfortably inside a small benchtop cabinet.

Selection point: usable capacity depends on specimen geometry, rack angle, spacing and the need to avoid direct interference with fog distribution or condensate runoff. Send a loading drawing before ordering.

Operation and Maintenance Priorities

  • Prepare the solution and adjust pH using the procedure specified by the governing standard.
  • Verify chamber and saturated-air temperatures before starting the formal exposure.
  • Check fog collection at the specified locations and interval; do not infer compliance from pressure alone.
  • Prevent specimens from contacting one another and avoid condensate runoff from one specimen onto another.
  • Rinse the spray circuit and nozzle with suitable purified water after testing to reduce salt crystallization.
  • Inspect air filters, seals, heaters, sensors, solution lines and safety alarms on a documented schedule.
  • Use calibration and cabinet-corrosivity checks required by the laboratory quality system.
